When snow shoveling becomes snow hauling

01/28/2015

Snowstorm “Juno” slammed into Maine yesterday and left about 12-inches of snow in our driveway. Throw in wind-blown drifts and city plow walls and you’ve got enough shovel work to induce a hernia.

Enter Duane the plow guy.

Jen found a local plow service on Facebook and “called in the choppers.”

About 30 minutes and $20 later our driveway looked like a cake plate after a birthday celebration. Just some touch-up shoveling and we were set for the night.

But Juno would not quit.

Over night we picked up another 6-8 inches. We laced up the boots again in the morning.

No breakfast. No coffee. 10 degrees. A stiff wind swirled around the garage. It’s time to shovel.

January is always time to shovel in Maine.

Maine winters make Minnesota’s look tame. We hardly have any snow at all here… good luck!
