A Mighty Wind roars into NickMoore Hotel

We stopped to watch the sunset on Christopher’s birthday at Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. It was a great show!

From a light house in Bar Harbor to a lobster dinner on a chilly night in Belfast, our friends Christopher and Katie saw Maine at its best during a four-night stay at the NickMoore Hotel last week.

Although Christopher was unable to meet Maine State Senator Emily Cain, he saw many signs supporting her candidacy for U.S. Congress and sung her praises frequently.

Here’s a few highlights from Christopher and Katie’s stay:

The Bass Harbor Light is one of the most visited in Maine.

*  We almost got blown into the North Atlantic during a visit to Schoodic Point in Acadia National Park during a rare October Nor’easter.

*  A CBGB burrito at 86 This! in Ellsworth.

*  Breakfast in the trucker’s lounge at Dysart’s Truck Stop on I-95. Don’t forget your purse!

*   Candlepin bowling in Old Town. Think: Skinny pins. Small balls, and a bonus throw.

*   Amazing beer at 3 Tides in Belfast followed by a chilly lobster dinner at Young’s Lobster Pound. Maine travel tip: Real lobster pounds don’t have heated dining rooms.

*   University of Maine Black Bears: 3 and the Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves: 1.

*   More amazing beer at Nocturnem Draft Haus in downtown Bangor.

*   A lighthouse in Bass Harbor.

*  Sand Beach, Pebble Beach and a Cadillac Mountain sunset in Acadia National Park.

Thanks for visiting Christopher and Katie and we’ll see you back in Minnesota.

Christopher had his Birthday Breakfast at the soon to be closed Historic Howard Johnson's restaurant. The eggs weren't all that good but he got a free birthday muffin and the nice waitress took our picture.

The lobsters are as big as your head at Young's Lobster Pound in Belfast.

Heavy rains from a rare October Nor'easter made this Sand Beach creek run fast and high.
